Vinnies College Conference

Vinnies Bushfire Relief
Thanks to the students and staff who supported our stall at lunchtime on Tuesday 10th March. With your help we raised approximately $500 to support the St Vincent de Paul Bushfire Relief.
We employed the social justice model to SEE as we observed the devastation in regions impacted and continuing to be affected by the bushfires. We employed the THINK approach and decided that financial assistance was the most immediate support we could offer so that funds could be distributed employing the Catholic Social Teaching principle of subsidiarity where the local communities decide best what is needed for them. And of course, the DO part of taking action saw us run the stall and give the Mazenod community the opportunity to support the cause.
Vinnies will use our donations in the short term to pay for immediate needs such as food vouchers and household items and in the long term by helping cover damages to home not covered by insurance and paying for livestock feed and tools.
Vinnies members and volunteers live in bushfire-affected communities, and will be there for the long road ahead as communities rebuild and recover after the fires.
Thanks to Mr Johnson, Mr Morrissey, Mr Morabito and Mr De La Zilwa for their time and support and to Mr Zaar for donating the ‘Guess the weight of the Chocolates’ competition.
