Plus NAPLAN...

Virtual Excursions

After what seemed like countless false starts, we finally got to attend the long-awaited virtual excursion, where we watched an interview of ‘Brickman’, Ryan McNaught, judge and co-host of Channel Nine’s hit show, LEGO Masters Australia.

Ryan shared his journey from the corporate world into the world of LEGO. The interview was incredibly insightful, and we all enjoyed seeing some of his amazing builds.

But by far the biggest highlight of our morning was participating in our own Lego building challenges, where groups created models using a single colour and tried to build the tallest tower. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to implement problem solving skills through creativity. Brickman would have been proud. LEGO Masters eat your heart out!

NAPLAN 2022

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a point in time assessment of literacy and numeracy skills. Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in the annual tests in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. All NSW schools will sit NAPLAN online in 2022.

Our school will be participating in NAPLAN between 10 and 20 May 2022.

In preparation for NAPLAN, our school will also be participating in practice tests. The practice test is a trial run and key preparation activity for NAPLAN in May. It is not an assessment of student ability, and the tests will not be marked. Excessive preparation for NAPLAN is not recommended. Students can use the public demonstration site (https://www.nap.edu.au/online-assessment/public-demonstration-siteto familiarise themselves with the types of questions and tools available in NAPLAN.

If you have any questions about NAPLAN, please contact your child’s teacher.

Volleyball… and More!

Coach Claire is back with Volleyball skills, fitness checks and new skills to learn in AFL / (Aussie Rules)! Last week we started doing measurements of our flexibility and running and jumping skills and this week we are up to the Beep Test (running and endurance). As usual Claire teaches us calmly and consistently, with plenty of chances to practise. The lessons are really wonderful opportunities to learn life skills.
