Music News- Week 9

Online Lessons

For students learning at home in Week 10 and requiring an online music lesson, please ensure advice is provided to tutors or to the Music Office on 9383 0440.

 

Please be reminded that all absences from Music lessons due to illness must receive proper notice, by 3pm the day prior to the lesson, to either the Music Office or directly to tutors.

 

Thank you, to all students, parents and staff who have been participating in online lessons, this week! All online lessons are conducted through Teams, so families with younger students may need to arrange login details ahead of their lesson. For assistance with any aspect of online music lessons, please contact the Music Office on 9383 0440.

 

If an instrument stored in the Instrument Storeroom, in the Performing Arts Centre, is required to participate in online lessons, please contact the Music Office.

Holy Week Concert

While we are positive in our expectations that live performances will return to our College in the near future, several of our ensembles will be undertaking a trial recording process for their Holy Week Concert repertoire, in lieu of the live event, originally scheduled for Week 10. These recording sessions represent unique opportunities for students to experience industry practices, with an aim to develop full-ensemble recordings of pieces diligently rehearsed, during Term 1. Due to the distinct circumstances of each choir, not all ensembles scheduled to perform in the Holy Week Concert will undertake recordings and will prepare to share their music in alternative formats and occasions.

 

As these recordings will also utilise video recording, College Music Performance Uniforms are required for Secondary students. Primary students will be required to wear College uniform (not Leaders’ shirts) Ensembles will record according to the following schedule (students are asked to meet outside the Chapel, 10 minutes prior to recording slots):

We are encouraged by the spirit of positivity and endeavour of our College ensembles and their directors, and these ensembles enter into this recording process in a pioneering spirit. Students will be reminded of these session times via the College notices and SEQTA, but are encouraged to set reminders on devices, where applicable and appropriate.

AMEB Exam Results

Congratulations to Tomas Clifford, Class of 2021 and Music Captain 2021, for being awarded the AMEB Most Outstanding 7th Grade Musical Theatre Examination of 2021. Tomas was taught and accompanied by Mr David Dockery.
