Farm World Expo

On the 24th of March our Year 12 Vet Agriculture Class set off to Lardner for the 2022 Lardner Park Farm World Expo.

It was a long drive through Melbourne, and we finally arrived at Lardner Park at around 12 o’clock. We were amazed how big the actual place was. Everything from farm machinery, to tools and equipment, animals, clothing, plants and so much more.

We firstly went to see the machinery and were astounded by the number of brands on show.

At around 1 o’clock we went to watch a sheep dog show with the one and only Joe Spicer, who was in the ABC documentary Working Dogs. We learnt how to train a sheep dog and how to get them to follow your commands.

We spent the afternoon wandering around the expo, looking at alpacas, cattle and sheep. After that we went to see all the stockyards and livestock management stalls where we saw milking robots from GEA.

We then jumped back onto the bus where we took a 20-minute drive to our caravan park where we set up our swags and explored the bush while waiting for our BBQ dinner.

On Friday after a ripper bacon and eggs brekky, we packed up our camp and set off back to farm world for another day of sightseeing.

There were a number of shows happening throughout the day – the best by far was the Motor Cross Show. We then went to the demo paddock where we could watch the big tractors work with ploughs and a drill.

We all came home with plenty of goodies and not much money left in our pockets.  It was such a worthwhile experience, and we really want to thank our AG Teacher – Jess Van den Eynde for organising it all. We also want to thank Mr Moloney for joining us on the trip.
