SSV Senior Cricket

The senior boys cricket team fell one run short in a thrilling final against Emmanuel College.

Needing 30 runs from the final two overs, Liam Mulder and Angus Permezel hit 22 runs off the second last over. Following a series of run outs in the last over, four runs were required off the final ball but a boundary couldn’t be found.

Emmanuel College batted first in the final and were 2-65 after eight overs before three wickets from Angus Permezel helped restrict them to 9-98 from their 15 overs with Trinity finishing on 9-97 in reply.

Earlier in the day, Max Buchanan (58 retired from 20 balls) starred with the bat as Trinity recorded a big win over Mercy Regional College and he backed it up with another innings that set up a successful run chase against Horsham College in the semi final.

Micah Robb, Aussie Harwood and Fraser Holt were amongst the batters to have contributed strongly throughout the day, while wickets were mostly shared between the bowlers.

Results:

Quarter final: Mercy Regional College 6/67 defeated by Trinity 4/170.

Semi final: Horsham College 7/85 defeated by Trinity 4-120.

Final: Emmanuel College 9/98 defeated Trinity 9-97.

Intermediate Girls Cricket

So far in term 1 our Intermediate girls cricket team has won the SSV Coastal division, defeating Apollo Bay, and then went on the win the SSV Greater Western tournament.

At this tournament, our girls firstly defeated Mercy RC 2/99 to 90. In this game Sienna Mallon retired on 63 (5 sixes) and Lily King and Sophie Richardson both made 8. Sienna also took 3/16.

The second game was called off early after we passed Ballarat HS score of 5/65 in the 8th over, going on to make 1/73. Sienna again retired, this time on 38 (4 sixes) and Pheobe Lockhart hit a great boundary off the last ball.

With the ball Lily King took 3/9, Bridie Lucas 1/9, and Isabelle Robertson 1/25. The girls now move on to SSV Quarter Finals, however the intermediate tournament isn't held until November so there is plenty of time to practice!  Well done to all players!

Senior Girls Cricket

Recently our senior girls played the SSV State Cricket Quarter Finals after qualifying by winning the SSV Greater Western tournament.

We took a short bus trip to Geelong to come up against Strathmore SC. Trinity won the toss and decided to bowl first to see what the opposition had to offer before we started the run chase.

Unfortunately for us they had a lot to offer, featuring former and current state players!! Despite this our girls stuck to the task for the whole 20 overs and never gave up even though every bad ball was being sent to the boundary.

We got a run out and Holly Unwin bowled their opening batter to get the score to 2-229.  Next it was our turn to bat and Matilda McCullagh and Jasmine Dunlop took it upon themselves to start the run chase and did it exceptionally well getting 19 runs off the first over and being 0-42 after 6. From there we lost our way and were bowled out for 54, but what a great effort it was to get this far in the first year of contesting this tournament as a school.
