Grade 1
Writing
In week 9 we completed our first ever unit on Narrative. Over the course of the unit, students have built up their understanding of a narrative structure and how to include interesting characters and an engaging problem and solution.
Maths
During week 9, students were focusing on practising their understanding of how to count by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. It has been great to see students' confidence grow over such a tricky concept! We will continue to practise this skill throughout the year, we can’t wait to see their knowledge of skip counting grow throughout the year!
Inquiry
Week 10 we have focused our whole week on our inquiry topic ‘Community Helpers’. They have participated in a variety of learning experiences that investigated the responsibilities of police officers, firefighters and doctors. Students then worked with a partner to further research information about 1 of the community helpers and present their findings on a poster.
Basketball Clinic
We were so lucky to have a professional basketball player teach us some basketball skills. We learnt to dribble, pass and perform a defensive stance.
Easter
We have been getting into the Easter spirit by creating Easter bags, Easter bonnets, and Easter eggs. We even had a visit from the Easter Bunny!
We want to congratulate all our grade 1 legends for an amazing term 1! We have finally made it through a whole term of school for the first time EVER! Hope you all have a safe and happy break and we can’t wait to see you all in term 2!
