Year 2 Fruit Walk

As part of our Healthy Choices unit, the year 2 students researched the health benefits of eating different coloured fruits and vegetables. In our classrooms we discovered that the special phytochemicals in the fruit and veg, help our eyes, heart, brain, give us energy and help prevent colds and illness!

In small groups, we planned how much fruit we’d need to make rainbow fruit skewers. We researched the cost, estimated the price of our fruit, and agreed how it would be prepared. We had fun walking to Frootz on Parade (discussing road safety prior) and then having the opportunity to purchase and look at the weight of the fruit. Back in the classroom it was a delight to prepare our fruit skewers and ‘eat the rainbow’!
