Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

We made it through our first full term in two years!  It has been great to see things slowly returning to ‘normal’ especially holding assemblies, celebrating with families at the end of term picnic and seeing the huge smile on kids’ faces during our Colour Fun Day.  The Colour Fun day was a huge success, and we thank you for supporting the school with your fundraising efforts.  We will provide details on funds raised early next term when the fundraising component of this event officially closes on Friday 29th April.

Our plan for next term is to build on the achievements of this term – both academically and socially for our students and by creating opportunities for reconnecting our community.  Thank you for your patience as we have continued to navigate COVIDSafe protocols.  At this stage we have been advised that we will be operating under the same guidelines next term (subject to government advice) as we have this term.  These guidelines include the recommendation for twice-weekly RAT screening of students and staff until the end of week 4.  All students will have received two boxes of RATs by the end of this week for the testing program next term.  Masks will continue to be mandatory indoors for adults and students in grades 3-6 at the start of term 2.  An important thing to note is that while parents are not encouraged to be inside the school buildings, parents are able to enter the school grounds during drop off and pick up times.  Teachers will take students to the same designated gate at the end of the day during term 2, but we invite you to wait inside the school grounds.  This will help ease congestion around the school crossings.  If guidelines change over the holiday period, we will send communication prior to the first day of term 2.

The School Council is in the process of planning both fundraising and community building events to take place across the course of 2022.  We encourage you to get involved in any way you can – especially if you can give time to helping to organise any events.

Our new campus is taking shape and we hope to be able to provide information on the expected completion date early next term.  We hope to see our current grade 5s and 6s move in at some stage this year.  Our School Captains and School Council had the opportunity to tour the building last week and were impressed by what they saw.  Photos showing progress are regularly included in the school newsletter and can also be viewed on the school website.

Whilst I am looking forward to the Easter break, I am also excited about term 2 beginning so that we can continue the great work we have seen this term.  A huge thank you to all staff at CHPS for their commitment to our students.

Rest and recharge over the holidays.

Take care

Megan
