From the

Assistant Principal

Dear Parents/Carers,

It is so lovely to be back this week and reconnect with our students as they settle into Term Two.  I would like to thank Anne, Catherine, school staff and school community for their support and kind thoughts conveyed to me during my absence.

I hope families enjoyed the ANZAC Day presentation that was led by our student leaders.  Even though it was a public holiday, it is a day that provides time for reflection. While Anne has already commented on how ANZAC Day is relevant to us as a school community, I would like to link the values of Respect and Pride to the wearing of full school uniform every day. The ANZACS were proud of their uniform and what it represented. Over the next two weeks, teachers will be focusing on how all students present themselves for school in relation to our dress code which has been discussed and passed by the Rowville Primary School Council. Please see below for details.

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) assessments will take place in week three of this term. NAPLAN assesses the literacy and numeracy skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life.

Each year NAPLAN includes: reading, writing, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. NAPLAN is just one aspect of our assessment and reporting process at Rowville Primary School, with our teachers employing ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and achievement. The assessment window for NAPLAN online begins on Tuesday 10 May and concludes on Friday 20 May, with schools having flexibility in scheduling sessions. If you have any questions or concerns about the upcoming NAPLAN testing, please contact your child’s teacher.

Have a wonderful fortnight,
