Year 12 Formal

A night to remember

On the night of Friday 22 March the Year 12 class of 2019 celebrated their Senior Formal. The venue was the Pavilion on South Terrace.

By 6:00 PM the students had walked the red carpet as they exited their special vehicles; this really set the atmosphere as the beautifully dressed Year 12s gathered with their friends and family for the opportunity to take photos in the garden. The stage was set for an amazing night, with the cohort dressed in their finery.

Friends and family celebrated with the Class of 2019 for the first hour, with drinks, canapés and speeches in the garden. As the night progressed, students headed up to the Riverview room at 7:00 PM. The students settled in, making use of the greenery photo wall and appreciating the set-up the formal committee organised; the theme of this event was Starry Night.

Students enjoyed their dinner, after being presented with the option of Moroccan Medallions or Mediterranean Chicken for main course, followed by and Sticky Pudding or Brownie Points for dessert. During dessert, student awards were presented by Grace and Kiara, with the Best Dressed honours of 2019 going to Petar Ilic, and Jordan Lavis. After, students were presented with a speech by Miss Gray, highlighting the achievements, memories and inside jokes within the cohort, acknowledging how, as a year-level we have progressed into the mature adults we’ve become today.

Following this, Shatha surprised everyone with her solo song ‘Shallow’ from the hit movie ‘A Star Is Born’ which ended with a standing ovation from the room. The night ended with the DJ playing songs requested by the year level, to which students danced the night away.

While the evening officially ended at 11PM, the memories of this night will last forever. The event wouldn’t have been successful without the hard work of the Formal Committee. Their hard work over eight weeks was evident in the seating plans, food choices, decorations and student awards. The class of 2019 would like to offer special thanks to Mrs Ackerley and Mr Wooldridge for their organisation and planning – the night wouldn’t have been the success that it was without your dedication and hard work.
