From the Executive Principal's  Desk

Dear Parents/Guardians

Welcome back to another term. It is hard to believe how quickly we have reached Term 4! It is the business end of the year for our Year 12 students. The students are studying very hard for their final exams which commence for most of our students with the English examination on Wednesday 30 October. The VCE exams are held here on site. On Tuesday 22 October we are having a special final whole school assembly to farewell our Year 12 students at 8:45am.  This is always a special assembly. I encourage all parents to be at the assembly, whether your child is in Year 12 or not, and also to pray for our year 12 students over the next few weeks.

Many of our HCC teachers are VCE examiners. This means that they will be marking and grading the upcoming VCE examination papers. Being chosen to be a VCE examiner is an endorsement of the quality of the  teacher accredited to do this. HCC staff who are VCE examiners are Tonia Burgess (Studio Arts), Fairlie Marsland (Legal Studies), Pam Sanderson (English), Phong Le (Physics), Bevan Hung (Chemistry) and Jeremy Richards (History).

I am very proud of the staff that we have at Heatherton Christian College. Teaching is not a nine-to-five job. HCC staff consistently go over and beyond what is expected so that your children may have the best possible experiences at school. Our Year 10 students have just returned from another impacting missions’ trip to Northern Queensland. The trip could not happen unless our staff freely give of their own time, which included giving up part of their school holidays to attend. A big thank you to Darren John, Chris Davis, Christy Marshall and Claire Sim for giving of their time by attending the mission’s trip this year. We also had one of our alumni, Joash Rajaratnam, attend and help lead the trip. Our Year 12 staff also facilitated holiday study classes at school over the school holidays. Again, the staff gave freely of their time for the benefit of our students.

Quote of the week…..

“ You don't make progress by standing on the sidelines, whimpering and complaining. You make progress by implementing ideas.”
