Journeying Together in Christ

Remembrance Day

Today I am in Melbourne for a meeting. I had the opportunity to go for an early morning walk to the Shrine of Remembrance. As a young person growing up and experiencing ANZAC and Remembrance Day, and studying history at school, my knowledge and appreciation grew. It wasn't until I met Nicole's (Mrs Keenan) dad that I started to reflect in a different way. Neville was in the infantry (4 & 8 RAR), two battalions. Letting someone open up and share some experiences is very special. You never like to ask, so I see this now as an absolute privilege. I am reminded to appreciate some things I may take for granted. We all hope for peace and no war, but today I remember, say thank you and think of my father-in-law.

Letter from St Joseph's Beechworth

In the previous newsletter I shared some letters from Cobram. Last week we received two letters from St Joseph's in Beechworth. I read them at the school assembly and our Community Group/Advisory Council meeting on Tuesday night. These letters highlight the Catholic Values and genuine care of people and schools.

Dear Staff and Students of St. Lukes Shepparton.

I heard what is happening in Shepparton. I hope it will be over soon and you can fix up your school and get back on track.

From Oliver Yr 5

Dear Staff and students,

My name is Dara. I 'm sorry that your town has flooded and that your life has changed in the last couple of weeks.

From Dara

I will contact the school and thank them for the time they took to reach out to someone in need. Our Year Five's did a similar thing with a school in Lismore.

The Community Group and Advisory Council joined together on Tuesday evening. Great conversations were had about planning for the future and tapping into those who may want to get involved at St Luke's in some way. We discussed ways of communicating effectively and one idea was to use video instead of print. Using the children and myself at times, I may try my skills with a self FB live post of our ongoing landscaping!

The community group is made up of families and staff. We all have a vested interest in celebrating our Catholic Identity. All groups have a core of hard workers and others who assist in the background. I am very grateful for all you do.

Last Saturday a band of helpers coordinated a very busy Bunnings BBQ. The warmer weather brought people out!

End of Year Mass and Whole School Orientation

A reminder that both events are on Tuesday 13th December. Mass is at 6:00pm at Sacred Heart Church, Knight Street.

New Building Opening

On Wednesday 16th November, at 10:00am, Bishop Shane Mackinlay is blessing the new building and the Hon. Mark Gepp will officially open it.

The ceremony will take place in the auditorium. The children and any parents/carers attending will be seated on the grass area looking towards the auditorium. If we experience unfavourable weather and drainage, we will communicate this on the morning and the event will be limited to the invited guests and some students.

New crosses for each room are being created at the moment and these will be placed in each space.

Uniform Reminders

  • Hats at all times.
  • Correct socks.

End of Year events

Please see the Calendar Page for upcoming events in Term Four and the start of 2023.

Many families who have joined us since 2019 have not experienced any end of year events/functions due to the pandemic and storms in December 2019. We will have a night early in 2023 for all families.

We keep all those affected by the floods in our thoughts and prayers. We know recovery may not be as quick as needed.
