This Sunday, the 20th November, we celebrate Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, commonly referred to as the Feast of Christ the King.

This Last Sunday of Ordinary Time in our Liturgical Calendar, is devoted to honouring Jesus Christ as "lord over all creation".  The day was established in 1925 by Pope Pius Xl and reminds us all that Jesus Christ, is not just an earthly King..but rather a spiritual king. A king of Heaven, Earth and all that surrounds us, a kingdom without end.  This is a time to reflect on Jesus' title as King. Jesus is an unexpected and different kind of king to what we usually imagine.  I wonder how you 'see' or imagine Jesus?

We have had a jam packed 'middle' of the term with open classrooms, impact cycles and assessments at school, as well as our Remembrance Day Liturgy, Inclusion Support Days, Leader of Pedagogy/Assistant Principal Conference, Staff Catholic Retreat Evening, and Type 1 Diabetes Training in Schools for all staff. All on top of the commencement of Report Writing.

Got to love Term Four! The busy end of the school year.  It has been delightful when teachers enter the staff room or pull you aside to detail the success stories in student learning this Term.  Many of our students have much to be proud of in terms of their academic and social growth.

Thank you to those parents who jumped in to have a look at their child/ren's learning last Wednesday.  Demystifying the classroom routine and practice, can help parents engage with their own children about their learning for the day.

Questions such as: Tell me two things you found challenging about your learning and why,  in your Literacy block today?..and following with.. "How did you overcome that?" or "What did you do to solve that?" is a simple way to begin a conversation with your child, but also cements the idea that, we are all responsible for our learning and we implement strategies to make that happen.  e.g. A child might say.  "I found my spelling work hard as I don't always remember what letters make the sounds." the way they overcame the challenge may have been, "I used my spelling rules list" or "I asked a friend for help" or "I looked at the vowel sounds on our learning wall."

Every time our students acknowledge that their actions helped overcome a challenge, it builds their resilience and enables them to see themselves as a direct influence of change in their lives, their problem solving skills and self advocacy are vital to this.

A huge congratulations to Amber who has announced that she and her partner Logan are pregnant with their first child.  Such a glorious time! Bets are on for the beautiful little bubs gender!

Thank you to our school community for being so understanding about the change of date for the St Mary of the Angels Presentation Evening, it is important to support each other to the best of our abilities, the understanding that the small inconvenience of a change of date means the world to others.

By the time I write to you all again, we would have welcomed our 2023 Transition Parents.  I cannot believe how quickly this year has flown and how planning is already well under way for 2023.

May you all have a wonderful weekend and a gentle two weeks!
