Miss Mel's Message

Acting Principal - St Brigid's Primary School

Week 7, Term 4

I have been overwhelmed with the love and support of our beautiful community over the last week since my announcement as principal of St Brigid’s, last Thursday. To say I am excited is an understatement. I have been a member of this community for 15 years and have experienced so much joy, connection and love and wish to continue to lead our community from strength to strength, with a renewed focus on community connection, learning and teaching and wellbeing.

We welcomed our new preps for their first orientation session last week with their second orientation this week. It was wonderful to listen to our school leaders speak with such love in their hearts about the amazing community they have experienced at St B’s through their journey with us. We also thank our existing families who shared their tips and tricks with new families about getting their kids ready for school, and general preparations. The preps loved their show bags and have some exciting things to engage them in their lead up to school next year. Thanks to the PFA for supporting us with morning tea.

Our passionate leaders and learners who petitioned to the Advisory Council for a Gaga pit have finally seen it come to fruition. Their hard work, planning and weekend commitment have seen the new Gaga pit completed down in the dip on the grass area. Once we have the sand delivered we are ready for the grand opening.

Swimming started this week with our junior students. Middles will commence next week, hopefully with better weather, as the juniors have had to battle the elements most days.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent interviewing Year 5 students for potential leadership roles and committees in 2023. They have presented confidently and shared some great ideas and visions for making St B’s an even better place to be.

Our whole school project team continues to work towards the St Bs Mini Market Stall on Sunday December 4th. We have now included a car show and music to the plethora of fun activities! Come along and join the fun! See the PFA Newsletter page for more details.

Year 6 students have commenced a high school transition program which involves them reading a timetable and moving around the school for various subjects with various teachers. Their graduation preparations are well underway and students have been practising their dance, whilst the graduation team commence plans for the other festivities.
