It has been another exciting year with 100's of books being borrowed from the library. Borrowing time has finished for the year. Please return any library books that you may have at home as soon as possible so I can do a stock take in readiness for 2023.
Please look in all the regular line up of suspect places that our books may be: under beds, on bookshelves, in the toy boxes, under couches etc.
I look forward to opening the library for borrowing and to share the enjoyment of books in 2023. In the meantime, please keep reading all those books you have on your shelves over the holidays. Merci - Mme Gatehouse.
The girls Kanga Cricket team participated at the Division round in Wonthaggi on the 11th November winning one out of the three games with the other two being very close. Well done girls.
Well, what another fantastic French Day. Thank you to Mme Gatehouse, who works tirelessly on bringing much fun and enthusiasm to French Day each year. There was much to see and do. All the children had a marvelous time spending there Euros (withdrawn from the ATM) on the various stalls, visiting the museum to see the art and statues, walking down lane ways, and consuming waffles/sorbet and much much more.
The day ended with The Great Escargo Race. Each class has been training their snails in preparation for the big day. The Great Escargot Race of 2022 was held after lunch in the quadrangle under the new shade sails. The race was very exciting with much tooing and froing from the busy snails. The speedy 3/4 I classroom snail was victorious winning the Escargot Cup in record time! Well done to all the trainers and to all the supporters who cheered their snails on. Bad luck to all the other classroom snails. All competitors were released back to the wild after the big event for a much needed rest.
On Thursday 20th October, the gr 5 students experienced a day of college life at Mary MacKillop College. All students had a fun and entertaining day. Discovery Day not only introduces students to the facilities at Mary MacKillop College it also gives students an opportunity to meet new friends from other schools who will be joining them at the College in 2024.
The Melbourne Stars van was parked in the car park on Wednesday 16th at drop off time to have a chat to interested children about cricket and give out some merchandise. The children were very excited about this surprise visit.
Friday 18th Nov
Each class has a donation basket for Christmasy and essential food items to go in the annual Christmas hampers. We will be accepting donations with a Christmas focus until Friday 9th December.
Please ensure that any food items that you bring in are well within date and that it would be something you would appreciate if your family was in need.
November 14th is the feast day of our school's namesake, St Laurence O'Toole.
Heavenly Father, heal my heart during this season of Advent.
Help me to love more fully. To forgive more generously.
To wait more patiently for Christmas, embracing each day and
hour knowing the joy that awaits.
In Your name I pray. Amen.
