2022 Student Forums Conference

This term I had the opportunity to take two students to the 2022 Student Forums Conference at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

Cale Vigar (F10) and Nikolina Pappas (F12) who are both Student Ambassadors attended the conference and represented LNPS.

In a series of facilitated student forums, students from every public school in the state were invited to come together and have a say on topics such as student well-being, student agency, the curriculum, and preparing for life after school.

We heard from inspiring speakers including the Chief Executive of the Department for Education Martin Westwell and MP Blair Boyer who is the Minister for Education, Training and Skills who both emphasised the importance of student's voice in relation to student well-being and learning.

Collective feedback from our students will be used to continue this conversation with stakeholders and feed into the start of the staff consultation at Leaders’ Day next year.

Nikolina and Cale also had the opportunity to look at the Wellbeing and Engagement Collection (WEC) Data at the state level, which is a survey that is offered to students in years 4-6 to complete, so that teachers and school leaders are aware of how they can support the wellbeing of students in their respective school.

Nikolina and Cale had the opportunity to provide ideas and insights into why students responded the way they did to certain questions in the survey, which sparked many interesting conversations between LNPS students and students from other schools.
