National Recycling Week
7th - 13th November
This year, National Recycling Week explores the idea that Waste isn't Waste until it's Wasted. Join your community and get involved in events that will cover topics like how to give resources a second life, how to reduce the need for newly produced resources, and of course, recycling. This year, it is all about quality over quantity, it is not about recycling more, but recycling better. Reducing our waste not only keeps valuable materials out of landfill it also benefits the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Thinking that waste isn't waste until it's wasted also provides some valuable insight into how the recycling and resource management industry works in conjunction to your efforts.

The Beachkeepers of the Tea Tree (Elwood Foreshore)
On Saturday 15th October, the Beachkeepers of the Tea Tree gathered for the second installment of a six part series, nestled between sea and sand, community and connection. One participant remarked she felt encouraged to return after seeing how successfully the restorative activities of noon flower planting from the September edition in this significant habitat had been. As there is a delicate ecology of trees, shrubs and plants that inhabit this area, your help is needed to keep the balance.
This project is supported by the Palais Theatre. There are four more opportunities for keen Beachkeepers to weave themselves into the history, present and future of this pocket of land. Join Nadav and the crew for the next working bee by clicking the link below. You can also check out photos from the previous events on our Facebook Album here.
