Principal's Report

Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week we have been participating in our 4 yearly School Review Process.  Mrs. Trish Cowling has been our school reviewer and it has been a pleasure to share our vibrant community with her this week.  Trish has met with all facets of our community to gain a snap shot of St. Finbar's in action.  She has met with the following groups:

  • The Leadership Team as a group and individually
  • Classroom Teachers
  • Fr Ian Ranson
  • Learning Support Officers (LSO's)
  • School Council
  • Various students from Year's 3-6
  • Classroom Visits in Prep, Year 4 and Year 5
  • Specialist Teaching Staff and Part Time Staff
  • Office Staff
  • P & F Parent group

My sincere thanks to all of the groups for your time and valuable input to this important process.  My particular thanks to the 2 parent groups for making the time to meet with Trish.  Trish will now prepare a detailed report for the school which will provide clear school improvement direction for us for the next 4 years, as well as celebrating what we do well.

Basketball Success!

Congratulations to the Year 4 All star Girls Team who have qualified for the Victorian State Championships in a few weeks time.  What an amazing effort!

Year 4 Family Mass

This Saturday we have our Year 4 Family Mass scheduled for 5:30pm.  I am looking forward to seeing our families at this special celebration.

Outdoor Classroom Progress

I had a very exciting SRC Meeting this week with the Prep to Year 6 Students and we have finalised the furniture and floor design for the outdoor classroom.  Please see attached the agreed seating furniture and the 3 floor designs that will be painted in the area.  We are just waiting now for the fit out of the main structure and shade cloth.

School Hats

All students at St. Finbar's School must wear their blue St. Finbar's School hat during Lunch and Snack time.  No exceptions.  School hats are available for purchase from the Uniform shop for $15.

Arrival time for school in the morning.

I have noticed that there is a steady stream of students arriving at school before 8:30am every morning and they are unsupervised on the playground.  I did count up to 25 students earlier this week on the playground as I was coming out to duty without an adult in sight.  Can I please remind all families that official yard duty begins at 8:35am and no students are to be left unsupervised on the playground before this time.  Parents must wait with their children on the playground until a staff member begins their duty.  This is a safety issue and your assistance with this is greatly appreciated.  Arriving at school after 8:35am is our preferred option.

Sporting Congratulations!

Congratulations to Xavier K (Year 6) who has been selected to represent Melbourne Victory in the Junior Asian Championships in Indonesia later this month. What a great achievement!

Baby News!

Congratulations to the Kevorkian Family on the safe arrival of Baby Harley

Big sister Jemima is very proud.
