Hello families,

In this fortnight’s newsletter I wanted to share with you the first step teachers take when beginning the process for class allocations for 2023.

Whilst it may feel like we’re only just settling into Term 4, the term will move quickly and we must begin the process of allocating classes for the 2023 school year.

The process begins with our students completing a friendship hand activity. All students are given the opportunity to nominate five peers they enjoy working with and to consider who they would enjoy being in the same class with in 2023.

When introducing this activity, all students are given the same outline (see script attached below). We want our students to show maturity and nominate peers that they believe they would enjoy working with in 2023, as well as those who they work well with.

By completing this activity, we are able to encourage student voice, as well as show our students that they are respected and that their views are valued.

Your child has completed this activity and tonight teachers will begin the process of class allocations for 2023.

This process will continue over the next couple of weeks and as you would have read in Mr. Irwin’s newsletter item, we encourage you to notify him of any considerations you wish for us to make before locking in classes for 2023.
