Mr Irwin's Message
Hi Families and welcome to this week’s newsletter.
We’re at the point of term where preparations begin for 2023. This includes School Council approving budgets, the school leadership team working with staff to develop our next 12 month annual implementation plan, and the important work of developing a class structure and class lists that supports student learning.
Friendship Hands
In Personal Learning this week, each student had the chance to nominate five other students they work well with and would like to work with in their class in 2023. We make a commitment to ensure each student has at least one peer they have nominated on their friendship hand in their 2023 class.
We also provide the opportunity for families to email me any considerations they have for their child for 2023. This is not an opportunity to nominate a teacher for next year but an opportunity to relay any circumstances we need to be aware of regarding your child that we may not already know. Requests for a specific teacher will be politely declined and the placement of staff communicated to the community prior to the Statewide Transition Day on December the 13th when students will ‘step up’ into their 2023 class. If you would like to make a consideration known, please email me by Friday the 28th of October.
The challenge of developing class lists is complex and draws on many factors in striving to get the right balance. We always do our upmost to make sure we get this right for all students.
Foundation Transition
This morning we had our 2023 Foundation students attend for their first Transition Day. It was wonderful to have students join us for their first time and start their school journey. Their next visit is on the 15th of November at 9:15am.
Melbourne Cup Public Holiday
A reminder to families next Tuesday is a Public Holiday for Teesdale Primary school for the running of the Melbourne Cup. This is our council mandated Public Holiday for this part of the shire. There is no school or OSHC that runs on this day.
5-6 Camp
Finally, next week our year 4/5/6 classes head off to Camp Kangaroobie from Wednesday to Friday. I am heading along with them and am looking forward to all the experiences Kangaroobie has to offer being a working farm right near the beach.
Have a great week and bye for now.
Pre-Loved School Bags for Sale
As well as second hand uniform, we have about six pre-loved school bags available for sale from the school office for $5.
Public Holiday - Tuesday 1st November
Please note as per the 'Dates to Remember' page, Tuesday 1st of November is a Public Holiday and therefore a Pupil Free Day.

Healthy Lunch Box Choices and Nude Food
Please help reduce waste in our school by packing 'Nude Food' (food without excess packaging) in your child's lunch box. The Healthy Lunch Box Pick & Mix posters below provide some good Nude Food options.
