Assistant Principals'

Report

November

On Friday 11th November three of our student leaders represented the College and accompanied Mr Jenner at the Remembrance Memorial Service hosted by Greensborough RSL.  Our Junior Captains Chantelle Harris and Ava Mott together with Ethan Barry from the SRC laid the Wreath on behalf of the College to commemorate this important date.

The week leading up to Remembrance Day, the SRC visited classes to sell the Poppy Pins.

People traditionally wear red poppy pins on their jackets and hats in the lead up to and during  Remembrance Day. The Remembrance Poppy was inspired by Canadian Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae’s poem written in 1915 ‘In Flanders Fields’. His poem describes the poppies growing in the churned soil of the battlefields of Europe.  They are now used as a symbol to remember soldiers killed at war and pins are sold to raise money for returned soldiers.

We are now at the end of Week 7 of Term 4 and the Year 12s have finished their VCE exams and are looking forward to their next journey.

Next week, Friday 25th November will be an out of uniform day (gold coin donation)to raise awareness Our purpose | Safe and Equal

Safe and Equal is the peak body for specialist family violence services that provide support to victim survivors in Victoria. Our vision is a world beyond family and gender-based violence, where women, children and people from marginalised communities are safe, thriving and respected.

Early Commencement

In supporting our senior student’s transition into VCE and our Year 11s continuing with VCAL, there will be an Early Commencement Program from Thursday, 24th of November to Friday, 2nd of December for our current Year 10 and 11 students.

Students will undertake this learning program to gain an understanding of the curriculum requirements for 2023 so that when we come back next year, we can hit the ground running!

This extra time allows students to complete meaningful work at the end of the year, become engaged in new classes and stay motivated by participating in the next level of work.

This program will include giving students overviews and timelines for their courses, going over important information about assessment and setting up students with subject vocabulary and prerequisite skills.

Year 7 to 9 Student Goals Review

In the next few weeks, we will complete our Literacy and Numeracy testing and review the English, Mathematics and Social-Emotional goals that students set for Semester 2. The goals and review comments will be published with Semester Reports.

Year 9, 10 and 11 Semester Exams

Good luck to our Year 9, 10 and 11 students completing the End of Semester Exams in Week 8. With a carefully planned study schedule and revision completed in class, students should expect to see the progress they have made this year in their results. Exams are also a great opportunity to prepare for their Year 12 assessments and exams. Comments on each exam will be provided by teachers in the Semester Reports.
