Year 8 & 9 Boys Cricket

The Year 8 & 9 took the field to play against Viewbank on the 25th of October.  The weather was bright and sunny, not too hot, and not too cold, an excellent day for cricket.

Greensborough lost the toss and Viewbank elected to bat.

The skipper, Jack took the new ball.  His first ball was a fast but a bit short and the batter rocked back onto the back foot to guide it through gulley but Riley got his hands to the ball and took a sharp catch.  The batter was out for a golden duck and you could hear a pin drop as everybody processed what had just happened and then the boys celebrated the wicket.

Jack then broke through again in his second over and Viewbank were two down for not many, but then they steadied, gained traction and started to build an innings. Heath took a good catch enabling Max to get a wicket and James managed to engineer a run out.  Unfortunately, Viewbank got away from the boys and they made 4/139 of 20 overs.

James and Cian opened the batting, but it was tough work because the bowling was tight.  Cian worked hard and made 7.  James anchored the innings but found it difficult to piece the field.  Jack batted at number 3 made an excellent 17 but at the end of the day the bowling was to good.  To their credit the boys batted out their 20 overs but they finished up 5/45, a long way short.

Overall, the boys encouraged each other and tried hard all day and were a credit to themselves.  It was a good effort by everyone but the game did not go our way.

Year 7 Boys Baseball

On Thursday the 10th of November, the year 7 boys went out to Mill Park for 3 games of Baseball. With one win and one loss in the first two games, the boys went into a nail biter of a third game to take the win and move through to the next round. The year 7’s showed excellent sportsmanship and high spirits throughout the successful day. A special mention to Kelly Pilapil who came along to support our year 7’s.
