Myrniong - Prep to Year 6

Director of Early Learning Centre

It is with pleasure that I announce Mrs. Silvina Werner as our new Director of Early Learning Centre, commencing in 2023.  Mrs. Werner will take over the role from Mrs. Frances O’Brien, who has been in the position for 8 years.  Mrs. Werner has a wealth of experience in the early learning sector and has been working within the ELC environment for 12 months. She will be a great asset to the team.

2023 Staffing

Next Thursday is our Prep to Year Seven Orientation Day at College.  All students will ‘step up’ to their 2023 classes for the day.  Miss Sophie Ross will be taking maternity leave in 2023 and we will be interviewing in the coming weeks for a teacher to cover Miss Ross’ position.  I will keep you informed on the recruitment process.

I can announce the following classroom staffing.

Prep - Mrs. Sharon Kelly

Year One - Mrs. Penny Callinan (3 days) and Mrs. Peta Alexander (2 days)

Year Two - Miss Simone Brabham

Year Three - Mrs Bernadette Milich

Year Four - Miss Patricia See

Year Five – To be confirmed

Year Six - Mrs. Anna Robertson (4 days) and Mr. Stephen Nelson (1 day)

Our Year Six students will start the day at 8.50 am at the Senior School.  They will be placed into two groups for the day. These won’t be their 2023 classes. Classes will be announced in January.   Year Six parents are invited to contact Mr. Nelson in the coming weeks with requests for Year 7 class placement.  Whilst consideration will be given, with two Year Seven classes next year, we cannot guarantee all requests.

Year 3 and 4 Camp

Congratulations to our Year 3 and Year 4 students for their efforts at Roses Gap camp last week. The weather wasn’t the best, but the positive attitude, resilience and teamwork exhibited by our students throughout the three days was outstanding.  Thank you to Miss Ross, Mrs. Milich and Mr. Cameron for supporting and encouraging our students to push their comfort zones and have a really enjoyable camp experience.

Young House Service

Our final House Service for 2023 will be the Young House Service next Wednesday, 9th November, 12.20 pm, at the Uniting Church in Hamilton. The theme for the Service is Resilience. All students must wear their blazers and ties to the service.

Samaritan’s Purse

Congratulations to our Year 6 leaders who ran a year level Christmas initiative. Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organisation, which provides donated goods to children across the world.   Abigail Henderson, Amelie Shrive, Harley Kearns, George Edgar, Lachlan Reid, Maggie Mercer and Rachel Aitken rallied their classmates to fill shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, school supplies and fun gifts. Thank you to all of Year 6 for their contributions.
