Queens Jubilee - Avenue of Honour 

On 15 November Aitken College’s Avenue of Honour was officially opened by Ms Maria Vamvakinou MP for Calwell. The 22 Quercus Robur trees were planted as part of the Planting Trees for the Queen’s Jubilee grant and is in recognition of the contributions made by the Queen to Australia and the Commonwealth.

Planting the trees will also increase the area of tree canopy and increase the biodiversity of the area. This will create a microclimate, such as shade, wind protection and temperature control, providing habitat and food source for our wildlife in an ever-increasing housing development suburb. 

Sustainability and School Captains were involved in the opening of the Avenue of Honour.
