Handwriting & Touch Typing Skills

The two courses continue to be successfully run onsite at the College with positive feedback being received from students and parents/carers. The courses are run by our external provider and experienced occupational therapist, Anna Orchard who will offer these courses which are open to all students who wish to develop and improve these vital skills.
The programs will run over 8 consecutive weeks (70 minutes per session) in Term 4, from Week 2 (week beginning 17th October) up to and incl. Week 9 (week beginning 5 December) with students able to attend makeup sessions through the 8 week term if required for illness or other reason.
Time: 3.20pm to 4.30pm on one afternoon of choice per week, with a choice of 4 afternoons available (select from Mon through to Thurs)
Cost: $280.00 per student for the term
Interested parents and carers should direct an expression of interest and any queries to Anna, at anna.louise.orchard@gmail.com , and/or Ms Raheb-Mol, LSE Coordinator, via email: JRahebMol@stpiusx.nsw.edu.au. Be sure to include your son’s full name and year, the preferred course from the above, and the preferred day (or days) of the week for your son to attend at the selected course(s).
Anna Orchard will then contact you with further information including the registration and enrolment forms upon receipt of your expression of interest. Numbers are limited in both courses, and places are expected to fill quite quickly. It will be a case of first in, first served!
Homework & Tutoring Help Program
BEGINS WEEK 2 IN THE SENIOR LIBRARY
TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY AFTERNOONS
- Operates all year round, starts Week 2 of each term. (Due to staff changes in term 4, it will operate TUESDAYS & WEDNESDAYS ONLY )
- For all boys (across years 5-12) and all levels of ability
- Held in in the Senior Library, top of A Block (SRC)
- Provides a quiet study space for homework, assignments, assessment tasks or study for a test.
- Available 2 afternoons per week (Tuesday and Wednesday) from 3.15pm - 4.30pm
- Supervised by Learning Support and Enrichment (LSE) Staff
- Attend on one or more afternoons per week, on a regular or occasional basis
- No need to make an appointment, just sign in on the register book
- Seminar rooms available for group tasks and activities, or private work
- Students can work independently, or ask for one-to-one tutoring assistance as needed for: literacy, grammar, essay-writing, maths homework tasks, reading comprehension skills, and more.
- Get FREE tutoring help with assessment tasks in all subjects areas: this includes planning and research help, interpreting rubrics and marking criteria, editing of paragraphs, and proof reading checks of word and sentence level grammar - in all subject areas
- Encourages mastery of LITERACY and NUMERACY skills through a range of interactive websites and online resources.
The Homework and Tuturing staff welcome referrals from parents or teachers to address specific literacy, numeracy or learning issues that may have emerged from your parent-teacher discussions or in the student’s end of semester report.
