Pathways at Sydenham
The Pathways team has organised a one on one appointment for all students in Year 12. The purpose of this meeting to is to encourage students to begin thinking about their transition from Year 12 to employment and or further studies. We are commencing with those Year 12 students in Bradman 4 and working our way through to students in Winton 7. Students will be allocated a 20 minute time and will be notified of their time two weeks in advance. If a student is unable to attend that time please email the pathways coordinator and an alternative time will be arranged. A list of student appointment times will also be advertised on Simon on a daily basis.

Nutrition Science: The Bachelor of Nutrition Science will be offered at the Melbourne campus from 2018. Studies will include food science, community and public health nutrition, and the role of diet in health promotion and disease prevention. The program will also provide a pathway for postgraduate studies in dietetics. Dieticians treat disease and illness with clinical nutrition and therefore require further substantial theory and supervised professional practice training in health settings. Australian Catholic University Early Achievers Program:
Do you regularly volunteer in your community, school, church, workplace, or cultural group? The Early Achievers’ Program could boost your application to ACU.
Applications are open from Wednesday 26 April to Monday 17 July – mark it in your calendar! If successful, you’ll receive an offer in August 2017 to study in 2018, and your application will be assessed on lower minimum entry scores. You’ll also benefit from opportunities to enhance your leadership and volunteering skills while at ACU.

Bachelor of Radiography and Medical Imaging: Students applying for the Bachelor of Radiography and Medical Imaging will no longer be required to sit a Multiple Mini Interview as part of the application process. Assessment will be determined by the applicant’s ATAR score and completion of the required prerequisites. For more information, go to the Monash University website.
Bachelor of Media and Design: from 2018, Monash will offer the Bachelor of Media and Design. The degree aims to respond to the increasing global demand for graduates with a deeper understanding of the role of media in contemporary social, cultural and economic life and well-developed professional skills in communication. News from RMIT University
Surveying workshops at RMIT: RMIT is offering a series of free workshops for students interested in a career in land surveying. The workshops are practical one-hour sessions and will give students the opportunity to gain insight into the industry and see the current surveying equipment used in the industry including a digital level, total station, GPS and laser scanner.
They will also get the opportunity to do a practical activity measuring distance and use a precise surveying total station instrument to check their measurements. Ready Set Design
Now in its sixth year, Ready Set Design is a series of three workshops for students in Year 11 and 12 where they can learn about careers and tertiary programs in design, develop their folio, and practice their interview and presentation skills.
Workshops are held in the April, June and September school holidays. We recommend that students attend all three sessions to get the most out Ready Set Design.
Registrations are now open for Workshop 1 (Design Bytes), which will be held on Monday 3 April. Registrations for Workshops 2 and 3 will open later in the year, and we will advise you when students can register for these (students who register for Workshop 1 will also receive a notification).
Study Skills 101
This workshop, held on Tuesday 4 April will offer current VCE students strategies to approach their exams and assessments with confidence. The session will cover the differences between studying at high school and university and how to deal with procrastination, as well as tips on writing essays under exam conditions.
Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) Industry Experience Day: AIE is a private college in Melbourne offering vocational and higher education courses in Game Art & Animation, Game Programming, Game Design & Production, 3D Animation & VFX for Film and Virtual Worlds. They will be running an Industry Experience Day for prospective students on Wednesday 12 April and also gaming workshops during the first week of holidays. UMAT- Undergraduate Medicine & Health Science Admission Test
The Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test (UMAT) The Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission Test (UMAT) is developed each year by ACER on behalf of the UMAT Consortium. The test is developed and used specifically to assist with the selection of students into medicine and health science degree programs at undergraduate level. A Day at Melbourne for Year 12 Students
Ever wondered what it’s really like to study at the
University of Melbourne? Is it all about hard work? What about the other side of Uni life? Going on exchange, clubs and societies, or sport?
If you’re in Year 12 and you would like to know more, come to our event and find out for yourself. You can ask our student panels what studying at Melbourne is all about, go on a guided tour of the campus, or tour some of the residential colleges to see what living on campus is like. You can even sit in on a genuine first year lecture.
We’ll also be able to tell you what you can study what entry requirements you’ll need, and we’ll talk about graduate study, access Melbourne, scholarships and more. There’s even a session for parents on how to prepare for your child taking this important step toward an exciting future.
The day will consist of a series of open activities that you can choose from, culminating in an expo at the end of the day, where you can talk to Faculty representatives about your study options.
