It was a magical time earlier this week when, as part of Book Week, children from different grades shared their reading with a Buddy.

Responsible Pet Ownership- Level 1 & 2

On Tuesday the Level One & Two students had a furry visitor called Jack. He was a beautiful dog that came into our classrooms with his owner Robyn.  They visited us to demonstrate how to correctly approach and greet a dog. We learnt things like what an angry dog would look like, and how to respond to one; you have to stand still quietly and look at the ground. The safest way to approach a dog is by:

  1. Walk up slowly and stop about 3 big steps away from the dog.
  2. Ask the owner’s permission to pat the dog.
  3. Let the dog smell the back of your hand.
  4. Step to the side of the dog and stroke gently from the collar to the tail.

The incursion was really fun and we got a chance to practice what we had learnt with Jack.
