Principal's Report

Jells Park Primary School
Principal: Kevin Oakey
Assistant Principal: David O'Kane
NAPLAN Result
Individual students NAPLAN results are available on our Parent Portal and hardcopy reports have been sent home to all Level 3 and 5 families. It is important to understand that NAPLAN is just one of many types of assessment indicating student progress, so we consider NAPLAN results in conjunction with a range of other assessment methods.
However, I would like to congratulate the Level 3 and 5 students on their 'collective' results. Our whole school results were really strong, reflecting all the hard work that students and teachers have been doing in the last 12 months or so.
Key indicators show that we performed better than 'State Average' and 'Matched School Averages' in both Level 3 and Level 5 in Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar & Punctuation and Numeracy. Additionally, when calculating the GROWTH of our Level 5 students compared to their own Grade 3 performance (in 2015), we were again higher against 'Matched School' comparisons in all categories.
While one of Jells Park PS strengths is our fantastic extra-curricular program, we do pretty well with academic performance as well.
Parent Opinion Survey
A large number of families have been invited to complete the Parent Opinion Survey, which closes this Sunday 27 August. If you have been invited to contribute it would be greatly appreciated if you could complete the survey ASAP.
We are keen for the widest canvassing of opinions as possible and we shape policies and procedures based on views and comments we receive from parents. If you would like input into the school, please complete the survey.
Thank you.
Reminder....
1 Our renovation project for the Administration Building has started and the relocation of school operations has occurred. We are incredibly jammed up in our available spaces, so I would ask for everyone's patience and understanding. Not all our resources are readily at hand!!
2) Car Parking and Drop-off Zones is always a concern due to the congestion and limited space. This will be a greater issue as the building works kick into gear. Again, I would ask for patience, understanding and common sense around parking and especially around the front of school drop off zone.
Thank you
