RACV Bendigo HPV

RACV Bendigo HPV Challenge
On Saturday 19 August, the Jells Park PS HPV teams headed out to Deborah Triangle, Bendigo, with our 2 energised teams, Vanquish and Shazzam. The race went for 9 hours from 1pm to 10pm. We were all both excited and nervous for the big event. The race was action packed with heaps of crazy moments!
We all eagerly arrived at the track at 11am to help set up the pits. We walked a lap of the track to assess every corner. Kai and Josh got us rolling to start the race. In Vanquish, Pat had the fastest time smashing out an amazing 1min 57sec! In Shazzam, Josh had the quickest time of 2min 28sec!
The 1.1km Bendigo track was quite difficult. There were tricky corners, a long, steep hill, and many obstacles that we had to avoid along the way. We all handled the track pretty well. Although there were quite a few thrills and spills in both vehicles (mostly Shazzam). Josh crashed on the very first lap and Madi was involved with a crash that smashed the front windscreen. There were many others who rolled the vehicle as well. Fortunately, no one was injured!
The race was chaotic. There were thrills and mostly spills at every corner. One was serious enough to stop the race with a red flag. Pat and Madi got us going again, after the red flag. But there were still many yellow flags to come (which means you have to slow down).
As it got dark, it got even colder. But the cold didn't stop us from wanting to go back in the HPV and into the action.
Ben and Mitch H finished the job off at 10pm. Luckily, there weren't as many crashes in the dark, because we were all very cautious going around the corners.
After all the action, Vanquish had finished 4th, and Shazzam had finished 16th. Unfortunately for Shazzam, we had to get it repaired, but after all the collisions the vehicle had suffered. We all had a great time and can't wait for our next race at Casey Fields. But of course none of this would be possible without our great teachers, Mr Zach, Mr Jenkins, Mr Small, Miss Mcleod, Miss Dodd and the parent helpers!
