Principal's Report

“My dream would be a multicultural society, one that is diverse and where every man, woman and child are treated equally. I dream of a world where all people of all races work together in harmony” – Nelson Mandela

At Monash we had the best time celebrating Multiculturalism week. Multiculturalism is a core part of the Victorian identity, our character and way of life. Our state is home to people who speak 290 languages and have 314 different ancestries. It's also a place where anyone can contribute and belong.

At Monash we had some of our staff and students dress up for the day in their own cultural costumes or colours. We have some beautiful photos to share in the newsletter. We love that we have so many cultures represented by our whole school community!

House Colours and Names

For the first time in a long time we are bringing back School Houses. This year for the first time we will be matching our house colours with indigenous names and introducing House Captains. The four houses will be as follows and the House Captains will be revealed in the next newsletter along with our School Captains. Watch this space!

Country - Biik (pronounced: bic) – Red

Tree – Darrang (pronounced: dar rang) – Green

River – Galada (pronounced: gal a da ) – Blue

Sun – Ngawan (pronounced: narga one) – Yellow

Sports Day

We are very excited to have our whole school Sports day next Wednesday. Your child’s teacher will let you know which house your child is in and we would love your child to wear the colour of their house on the day if possible.

Capital Works

We are edging ever closer to the completion of the first phase of the Capital Works Project and it was exciting to be onsite this week and see the progress. Painting is underway, carpets are being fitted, ceiling fans are up. All we need now is the children!

As always please reach out with any questions or concerns.

Stay safe,

Lindy
