Elly did a wonderful job using adjectives in her writing last week. She described her monster as having a ‘funny face’ and being ‘nice and soft’. Elly made phonetic attempts when spelling unknown words and even applied the new sounds we have learnt so far this year. Super effort Elly!

Yvie was a superstar at the House Swimming Sports last week. She had a great attitude and swam her heart out. Yvie even stepped up and raced in the age group above because they were short a person. What a great teammate you are Yvie!

Anna has had a wonderful start to Year One.  She is always working extremely hard to produce her best work and contribute to all class discussions.  During one of our writing lessons last week she did a wonderful job identifying nouns and verbs explaining why they are important elements of a sentence. Eva wowed the class this week with her amazing story about our noun town! She included all the key features of a narrative story and created some terrific 3D nouns to add to our class poster. Well done Eva!

Charlie has displayed incredible bravery in his move from Sweden to Australia. He has settled into school and class routines exceptionally well and has worked hard on his writing of narrative and persuasive texts, fluency reading and math tasks. Keep up the fantastic work, Charlie.

Harlan showed fantastic creativity when writing his ‘spooky’ narrative. He carefully planned his ideas using a plot rollercoaster. Harlan created great suspense and thrilling visualisations for his readers through using descriptive language, such as ‘the terrified boys slowly crept up the stairs’.  I can’t wait to see what ‘Author Harlan’ has install for us with his next story!

Jasper has been working extremely hard on his narrative writing this week. His story began with a ‘Sizzling Start’, and he was able to use ambitious vocabulary to build suspense and tension. Jasper also used onomatopoeia and dialogue to progress his story and make it interesting to the reader. Well done Jasper, I can’t wait to read the finished product!

Christina displayed excellent listening skills during our Indigenous Incursion. She asked thoughtful questions and correctly identified the artistic symbol for women in a painting! Very impressive, Christina.

Mila has made such a wonderful transition into Grade 5 at BRPS. Moving schools can be tricky, however Mila has embraced every opportunity at Black Rock so far. Mila has made some great new friends and participated in all school activities with enthusiasm, even joining our basketball team without knowing anyone and swimming in the district competition.Well done Mila, we are so happy to have you here!

Ava has demonstrated incredible determination and drive to achieve outstanding results in both the House and District Swimming competitions.
