Welcome back! Term 2 is full of exciting learning opportunities in and out of the classroom.
In Literacy, we are incorporating our topic of Ancient Rome. This unit of work has a focus on comprehension, understanding and vocabulary. Students have been enjoying learning about gods, goddesses and the Romans. To enhance our students reading fluency they will continue partner reading and readers theatre groups. In Writing, we are focusing on procedures which ties in with Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden, Information reports and a project. More information on the project will be available later this term. For Spelling and Morphology, we continue to follow the school’s scope and sequence.
In Mathematics, we are focusing on representing and solving multiplication, division and subtraction equations and fractions. In Measurement and Geometry, we are learning about measuring and time.
3/4 Important Information:
We are still looking for more volunteers to attend cooking and gardening sessions. All you need is a current working with children’s check. Also, you do not to be a parent or carer of a student in our classes, we are grateful for all assistance!
Swimming is coming up. We will be swimming every day from Monday the 22nd of May to Friday the 26th of May.
If you have any questions, please feel free to come see us, send a message on compass or ring the school.

The start of Term 2 has been jam packed full of learning and fun. We have enjoyed getting into the kitchen and trying some new foods.
The students are very excited about our term topic - Ancient Rome. We are finding out about how Rome was founded and how it evolved to become a democratic society.
In writing, we are focusing on writing procedures and making sure that our writing contains all of the elements needed to be a procedural text. Our focus is also taking pride in the way in which we present our work.
In Maths, we are investigating different ways to represent and solve a multiplication question with strategies such as repeated addition, skip counting equal groups and making arrays.
As part of Wellbeing, all students created an acrostic poem using the name of a classmate. I was amazed by some of the positive language that students chose to describe each other and was very proud of the thought and effort that went into creating these posters. At the end of the lesson, we discussed how it made you feel to have these positive things said about you from a peer.
