Senior School News

Senior VCAL students experienced construction and OHS firsthand, visiting a 65-storey apartment building under construction. They learned about the various skills required for such a large-scale project, as well as the safety requirements across construction sites like this one. A representative from CFMEU discussed their entitlements as an employee and the importance of following OHS procedures at all times.

 

Debating Season has kicked off! This year we have teams in Year 9 and Year 10. A big congratulations to our D Grade Team who were successful against Emmanuel College!

 

The Year 8 Science students have been learning about the heart. Students last week dissected a sheep's heart and identified different vessels in it.

 

Year 9 students have been studying the ecosytem. Last week students conducted an experiment to examine the role of carbon dioxide in photosynthesis. They blew into water to infuse it with Carbon dioxide and observed the effect green plants and sunlight had on the absorption of the CO2.

 

Year 10 Chemistry students have been studying the conductivity of different metals . Here students set up the experiment to see which metals conduct electricity. In this photo, Jackson and Nye predicted carbon would not conduct electricity. To their surprise it does!

 

Furthering our Year 10 Chemistry class, students are now learning about covalent bonding. Student used the Molymod kits to make up different molecules via covalent bonds to help consolidate their understanding of the topic.
