Athletics
It was an all round amazing day at our House Athletics. The weather was very windy but complimented beautifully with the warm sunshine. Each track and field event was filled with enthusiastic and supportive students giving their best effort- what more could you ask for!? Supported by some sensational staff members and positive parent helpers meant for a super successful day. The staff were blown away (literally haha) by the pride each student showed in their own and others achievements and it really made us appreciate and feel blessed to be apart of our O.P.S community. Congratulations to Lecky who were the overall winners of the day! We now turn our focus to the Senior and Junior Cross Country days. Our 12/13, 11, 10 and 9 year old age groups will run on the 31st of March. Our date for the Juniors is yet to be set. Stay tuned for more information about this.
Richmond FC Visit
There was an absolute buzz when Richmond FC players Jack Ross and Hugo Ralph Smith visited the school. The players were impressed with the interesting questions that our students had prepared and were keen to provide signatures on posters and merchandise. The club wanted to extend their thanks by offering tickets to 3 games by using the QR code below AND a sweet offer for any junior girls who are interested in playing footy - how cool is that!
Our Auslan lessons have been filled with fun as we start to implement our skills into signing games. Our Grade 3-6 students have been applying their knowledge of feelings and colours into games such as Auslan Jenga and Auslan UNO. My personal highlight has been seeing students play Guess Who with no talking, just communicating different questions about appearance with Auslan. HOW AMAZING!
Our Prep - Grade 2 students have been progressing in their finger spelling skills and applying this to games. We will continue to ensure this skill is deeply covered as it is such an important base to progress to other areas of Auslan and compliments their spelling too! Our juniors have also been exploring feelings and colours and applying this to sentences about themselves.
