Lenten Fundraising Day Thanks

A huge vote of thanks to all members of the community that supported the Lenten Fundraising Day held on 24 February. A day like that, of food and games, led by the Mission Captains and ably supported by the student body, Heads of House, Mission Team, Gary and the hospitality team and the unfailingly optimistic Kitchen, Services and Facilities staff showcases what we as a community can do when we are working together for others. Money raised from that day goes toward our Lenten Appeal.

Vinnies BBQ

Our St Vincent de Paul Group is up and running for 2023 and are pleased to be running our Thursday morning community BBQ. Our thanks to Fr Tini for ‘head chef’ role each week.

Staff Spirituality Day

Our presenter is Richard Leonard, a Jesuit Priest, currently Parish Priest of North Sydney. Richard is an author, film critic, and some-time contributor to the UK Catholic magazine, The Tablet. He is above all though, a very engaging and lively speaker.

One of the highlighted themes in both the Strategic Plan and in the question of our Catholic Identity, is our knowledge and experience of it as staff in a Catholic school.

The Staff Spirituality Day held yesterday Monday 27 February was a chance for the staff to focus our attention in more detail on our Catholic identity.

Our presenter was Fr Richard Leonard, a Jesuit Priest, currently Parish Priest of North Sydney.

Some of the many pearls of wisdom that Fr Richard left with the staff were:

  • Young people in our care must be able to learn
    • What a teacher will do
    • What an adult will do
    • What a Christian will do

As Marist educators we want the young people in our care to know that we do for them is in the name of care, compassion, and love.

  • We have all had adults that have inspired and motivated us to work with generosity and care for others, as Marist educators we can and should be the example of this to the young people in our care.
  • Jesus came to afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted. As Marist educators we want to challenge and inspire, educate, and comfort.
  • Jesus taught us where your treasure is your heart will be. As Marist educators we are teaching from the heart.

Thank you to the Services, Facilities and Kitchen staff who supported us through the day and to Fr Richard Leonard who delivered a thought-provoking, lively and entertaining day.
