From the  Principal

Karen Roberts

Dear Families,

It’s hard to believe that Term 1 is almost complete and that I have had the privilege of being the Principal for a term. There is cause for celebration and also a time to show gratitude. After all, “the ultimate source of happiness is not money and power, but warm heartedness.” Dalai Lama

Thank You to the students for their warm welcome. Daily reminders of the importance of my role are offered as I walk through the playground. There’s always a wave and a smile and welcoming words; often there’s an inquiry as to how I am doing. I believe on these days, I have the best job in the world! There’s little visits to my office with cards and gestures. There’s always time to show and accept kindness.

Thank you to the amazing CPS staff. Their commitment to ensure that student well being remains at the heart of learning is outstanding. Our CPS staff care every day and enrich the experiences of your children. Together, they model our school motto of “Welcoming, Achieving and Engaging”. Our happy students and whole school results are testament to this.

Thank you to the inspirational and dedicated school community. The fact that you are reading this newsletter is an indication that you are invested in your child’s learning and is a key contributor to every child’s success.

To our School Council and PFA, you are doing an incredible job. Thank you for supporting school governance and promoting our school community. Additionally, we honour your invaluable efforts to raise money for targeted projects at our great school.

We are looking forward to continuing our seamless start. There is much to celebrate and so much more to look forward to.

With Gratitude 🙂

NAPLAN

Our Year 3 and Year 5 students have been undertaking their online NAPLAN testing. Thanks to Karen Bentata-Grimm, Caleb Maher (ICT Technician) and Brett Nathan for their amazing efforts with coordination with both the ICT equipment and paperwork.

2022 ANNUAL REPORT

As part of accountability requirements, a report is provided to the school community each year for the previous year. This Annual Report is due to the Department of Education by 31st March, 2023 and was presented to School Council at our March AGM. This report is available on request from the office. It has also been placed on our school website.

SCHOOL PHOTOS 2023

Annual school photos including sibling photos will be taken at Carnegie Primary School by Arthur Reed Photos on Wednesday 22nd March. Unique image codes will be issued to all students on/after photo day so families can then register online to view images when they become available in the web shop.

Registration is simple, just follow the 3 simple steps on your child’s personalised flyer once you receive it and remember to add the codes for all your children attending this school.

Even if you registered last year, it’s important that you do again this year using your child’s 2023 image code to link their images for the current year with your contact details.

When the images are ready to view and in the web shop, all parents who have registered will be notified by SMS and email. There is no need to send any payment at all to school. All transactions occur online. Once registered, please wait for notification that 2023 images are online to view before making your purchase.

FATHERING PROJECT WORKING BEE

A  “Father/Child(ren) working bee" will be held on Friday 24th March from 2.00- 5.00pm. At this time, we will sweep, rake, weed and generally tidy our school grounds. No special skills are required and we welcome all parents and carers to come and help us with this important work. A Compass notification has been sent containing further details.

CELEBRATION

One of our students from year 6, Amelia, is an amazing artist. Recently , she has been using her knowledge and skills to design and make art on the ipad. Her work is stunning. She says "that her ‘Earn and Learn’ skills were learnt at CPS, so I'm ready to use my art to make some money. I will be using the proceeds from the sales to support both Amaze Autism and Carnegie PS.”

Recently, she held her first market in Elwood.

As part of World Autism Acceptance day, Amelia will be selling her artwork at our school on Monday 3rd April. (See flyer on the 'What's Happening' page)
