Around the Traps - 2/3C

Swimming

Students have been having a great time at the pool this week learning about swimming techniques and general water safety.  It has been wonderful to see everyone have a go and have some success despite some chilly conditions early in the week.

The class has been doing great work in all areas, here is a little run down of what we have been up to.

Maths

This week the Maths focus has been Place Value, we are building our knowledge of numbers up to 1000 and over 1000. Students are gaining confidence in working with bigger and bigger numbers. We also started revising addition and subtraction strategies.

Literacy

In writing lessons we have been using the Winter Olympics as a starting point, students have looked at Infographics, why are they useful and what are the key features. Students will then create their own Infographic about something they know.

In reading we have been getting back into our routines of independent reading, partner reading and then reading at home and filling in our reading logs.  This week we are also identifying the beginning, middle and end in the stories we read.

RE (Religious Education)

This week we are celebrating the wonder and beauty of St. Brigid and her story.

Next week I am on leave from Tuesday to Friday and Catherine Bijker will be in the classroom for those four days.
