YOUR STUDENT CANDIDATES 2022 cont..

NARGIS MOZAFARI

Hello everyone! My name is Nargis Mozafari, and I am running for school council student representative. I would like to tell you a little bit about myself, I am passionate, hardworking, empathetic, and reliable. Most importantly... I am committed. Committed to this position as much as Mr Corkill is to Collingwood. As once said, ‘Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean.’ I believe that everyday we come to school, we should remember that so much more could be achieved when we work together and when we support each other, incredible things can happen. As a school council representative, I can be your voice within the school administration and work to communicate your ideas! I would like to establish partnerships with other organisations and groups to enrich our school even more! I look forward to sharing your ideas and initiatives. Today I am not only here as a candidate, but also as your friend. And as your friend I promise to make sure that your opinion is heard. As your friend I will make sure that 2022 is the year where we can all build memories we'll remember and treasure forever. I may not be the most well-known person running for school council, but if every single one of you come to me with your ideas, I promise to listen and speak for you.

PUNEET RAM BADIREDDI

Hi I’m Puneet Ram Badireddi, and I’m running for the Student Council. John Monash has been affected over the past few years due to the pandemic and these changes have affected Students and staff alike. Upon being elected, my duty and purpose is to be the student voice, so students at JMSS have the same opportunities that Previous Students had.

My 3 top character strengths include the following:

+> Leadership and Teamwork

+>Love/ love of learning

+> Social Intelligence and Kindness

Leadership and Teamwork are the main as the will be the root cause of the capabilities and strengths of a successful leader. A leader needs to be able to make wise decisions and team work is necessary as I would need to work with other fellow creative leaders. Showing love of learning is what makes me feel the urge to be a leader and be part of the student voices. Social intelligence in my opinion is necessary to ensure we know what is happening around us. Kindness is vital. It is also one of the laws of this friendly school. We must show unconditional respect to anyone.

WE ARE THE STUDENTS. Together we can create a positive change for us all here at JMSS.

SARAH MACDONALD

It is no secret that John Monash is an incredible place designed to give us the education, opportunities, and skills to go out and tackle the pressing issues in this world. It’s also a place where we meet like-minded people, make friends that will last a lifetime and help each other out when things are difficult. As you know, our sense of community at JMSS is unrivalled. Given the challenges of the last two years, it is so important, now more than ever that efforts to build on our sense of community are prioritised.

As a student representative on the School Council, I pledge to support our student community through initiatives like more afterschool clubs and activities, promoting more leadership opportunities for all students and getting the JMSS community more actively involved in running social justice campaigns. This particularly gives us all the opportunity to help and develop invaluable leadership skills that we can take with us when we leave JMSS.

I believe that your opinions about our community matter, and your voice deserves to be heard. And I am both willing and passionate to listen and present your thoughts, and some of my own ideas to the School Council staff in an articulated manner to ensure that the change you want to see, happens.

As an experienced student leader, I know that clear communication is key to ensuring the change we envision can become a reality. Through my leadership experience at my previous schools, I have successfully advocated for change, whether that be through petitions, charity campaigns or being selected to offer my opinion on important matters regarding school policy. As a result, I’ve been able to bring my school community together to support the causes that were important to us and ensure that everyone has a place in our school community.

It would be an honour to receive your vote. Thank you.

SHALINI BALAKRISHNAN

My name is Shalini Balakrishnan  and I am currently studying in Year 10. I have joined JMSS from Camberwell High School where I was selected for the first batch of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program in Year 9. I have self nominated myself for a position in the school council. If given an opportunity I will research the best educational practices in academic excellence performed around the world. I hope this approach of mine will contribute towards the improvement of quality of education provided at our school. I will also work on ways to improve and support  the mental health and well being of the JMSS community. I want every student at JMSS to have a wonderful and happy time.

Remember my name, it's Shalini

CHRISTY YUNG

What does your ideal school look like? Free lunches? Free 24 hour-7 days a week transport whenever and wherever you are? Gotcha. You guys probably didn’t know, but I can’t do that. I’m not here to promise anything, but I am willing to devote my efforts to the best interests of our school community.

Previously, I had the honourable opportunity to be part of the student representative council. With my peers, I oversaw the process of the planning and execution of school events, leisurely classroom activities and overall school environment. I thoroughly enjoyed advocating my classmates’ ideas as well as expressing my creativity in brainstorms and discussions. It brings me great delight to help others; at JMSS, our supportive community gives me even more motivation to do so.

Through this position, I will be able to voice and implement your suggestions to better our learning experience, environment and ultimately, enrich our learning journey. With proper planning, we can elevate comfort levels in classrooms. One thing we could work on is how it feels hot and stuffy during hot weather, which results in reduced concentration.

For matters big and small, whether they are personal or not, I hope you find the courage to approach me. I am prepared to listen or offer advice, and readily welcome anyone to a hearty chat. It doesn’t even have to be school related, I'm happy to listen. Thanks for taking the time to read this. I wish everyone a great start to this new year and look forward to meeting you if I get the chance!

  SIDDHARTH DESHMUKH

Well, when I was dancing to the trap remix of baby shark at yr 10 camp, I never believed I’d be applying for leadership roles a year later, and yet, due to the insistence of my friends, here I am. My name is Sidd, and I'm sure you already know that I'm running for student council. You may be asking why I’m applying for student council? Well if year 10 has taught me anything, it’s that at JMSS, we students have the power to do big things. I don’t think any other school would’ve offered me the opportunity to fly to America for the International Student Science fair, but JMSS sure has! But how can we communicate our big ideas to the school staff? That’s where the student council comes in. I want to represent us, the students of JMSS, so that each and every one of our ideas can be heard by a platform of open ears and one that has the power to act on our ideas. I know that a lot of us have great ideas, and I'm here to listen, represent and communicate them. Thanks for reading and thanks for your vote

VINI RAJARAJAN

Student council is the bridge that connects students and the parliament. It’s where the student voice is heard and implemented into the school. And that’s exactly what I aim to achieve if I get elected in the student council. It’s all about improving the school so that everyone can enjoy and benefit from their time at JMSS, especially because the time we spend in this amazing school is quite short! We need to make the most out of it! We can work as a team in making the school a better place. I can promise you that I will spend time and effort hearing all your wonderful ideasand try to bring those ideas to reality. Hope you vote for me!

ALISHA AGGARWAL

Hi, I’m Alisha Aggarwal and I’m running to be a part of our school council this year. I have prior leadership experience, including being the club leader of 2 clubs and peer mentor this year, which I can offer to this role. If chosen, I will make sure to bring forth ideas that align with our school values and will allow this school to be a better place. I will make sure to voice all your opinions and consider all of your ideas and suggestions for the betterment of this school. Be sure to vote for me, Alisha Aggarwal for your student council representative.

GREGORY HANDOYO

Hi JMSS! I’m Gregory Handoyo, I’m running for School Council, and I hope to give you all the best schooling experience possible. A school councilor is someone who’s responsible and excellent communicator, an intermediary between students and staff. As an active member in the community and in various clubs, I believe I am the most suitable candidate. This engagement makes me the most approachable. I promise to be transparent and ensuring communication across platforms, organizing lively events, putting the “fun” in fundraising, focusing on school spirit and unity, and implementing YOUR ideas! Make sure to vote Gregory for School Councilor!
