Science Report

While the start of every new school year brings a certain level of excitement and expectation, for our new Year 7 students this is usually particularly exciting as it means learning in a dedicated science classroom with special scientific equipment and chemicals. The 2022 Year 7 cohort has had a fantastic start to secondary school science and it has been fantastic to see all of the enthusiasm and learning in all of our classes. So far students have examined the specialist scientific equipment we use in high school science experiments. They have learned their correct names and how to draw them correctly for scientific diagrams. Year 7 students also completed their first experiment and started to make accurate scientific observations.

Students now have their scientific log-books labelled and are learning to record their experimental work and reflections accurately.

Year 7 students (and Year 7 teaching team) are looking forward to issuing their Bunsen Burner licenses soon and students can then begin conducting more detailed experiments and investigations. Later this term they move on to learning about states of matter and how we separate mixtures. It has been a fantastic start to High School Science in 2022 and all of the teaching staff are looking forward to the year ahead.
