Italian 2022

It was wonderful to meet all the children at COHR during their first Italian Specialist lesson for 2022.
The Prep – 2 children enjoyed using musical instruments and song to greet each other during their first Italian lesson. They began making puppets of themselves which will be used during the term for speaking and oral language activities.
In Years 3 - 6, the children were given time to reflect on their learning in Italian for 2022. Through student voice and agency, children are given the opportunity to have conversations, collaborate and take some control of their learning. This in turn enables students to have a greater focus, have more interest, set higher goals and work harder which creates a positive cycle of learning success.
The children had time to think about and answer the following questions;
What do you want from your Italian learning in 2022?
How do you learn best?
What activities do you enjoy the most?
Some of the common responses included
“I would like to speak Italian more “
“I want to learn more everyday words
“I want to be able to have a short conversation with someone”
“I am interested in learning about the Italian culture”
“I learn best working with others”
“I learn best in small groups”
“I learn best alone”
“I like hands on activities”
“I enjoy investigations and projects”
“I learn best when I communicate with others”
“I want to learn about Italian food and do some cooking”
The children will now set group and personal goals to steer their learning.
