Principal's Message

From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

A big WELCOME BACK as we commence our new school year. It is certainly lovely to have the children back on site and learning at school. A special welcome also to our new families who have joined our community with our new Prep intake as well as children who have joined us in other classes. We hope you enjoy your time here at COHR and feel very welcome in our community.

This edition of the newsletter has plenty of news and information and I would encourage all families to take the time to read through what is happening and what is planned for COHR in 2022.

There were a few Covid experiences shared by many over the break but as we return to school our aim is to keep our school as safe as possible in order to avoid a return to home learning. Attached to this newsletter is a dedicated page to Covid updates. This page includes information about;

  • Rapid Antigen Testing
  • Learning Grids for students who are isolating
  • Vaccinations

Parent Information Evenings

These meetings will be a valuable opportunity to meet class teachers, hear more about class expectations and responsibilities of your children as well as hearing a little about the focus of the year.

Meetings will be held via a Google Meet. Each classroom teacher will send the link to parents prior to the meeting. These meetings will run for approximately 40-50 minutes and will take place on the following days next week.

Monday 14th February     Prep Level – 6:30pm   Tuesday 15th February    1-2 Level – 6:30pm

Thursday 17th February  3-4 Level – 6:30pm   Thursday 17th February  5-6 Level – 7:30pm

Parent Teacher Chats via GOOGLE MEET

Parents are invited to meet with their child's classroom teacher on either Tuesday 22nd Feb (3:50pm - 6pm) or Wednesday 23rd Feb (3:50-6:00pm). These interviews will be held via Google Meet.

These conversations are an opportunity for parents to share with their child's teacher relevant information which will assist the teacher to better understand the needs of their child as a learner. Interviews have been allocated in 10 minute time slots. Bookings can be made through School Interviews;

School Maintenance

Over the January break Gary, our Maintenance Man, completed a number of jobs to help ensure our buildings and facilities are being maintained to ensure we are continuing to provide a safe and appealing learning environment for all. This included;

  • painting large sections of the hall exterior
  • cleaning and repainting the walls in the exterior toilets
  • repairing and painting the exterior stairs to the 5/6 corridor
  • re-stained the decking outside 5/6 and seating around the vege patch
  • exterior painting of various exterior sections of the school
  • painting of the sheds

Medication / Medical forms

Children who had medication at school last year may not have collected it from the office due to our interrupted last week of school. Any medication that needs to be left at school needs to handed into the office with instructions for use.

Asthma and Anaphylaxis plans are also required to be updated.

A reminder to also update your Operoo details if necessary.

Icy Poles

All children were offered a FREE lemonade icy pole last Friday, compliments of the Parents Association. Commencing tomorrow, icy-poles will be on sale every Friday at lunch time for $1 during Term 1.

Stolen Bike

Unfortunately a student's bike was brazenly stolen from the bike rack just before lunch today. Our CCTV cameras captured the intruder and the incident was reported to the police.

Given this incident we would strongly encourage all students who ride to school to lock their bikes to the bike rack at the front of the office.

School Fees

A hard copy of the school fees will be sent home tomorrow. Please be reminded that these can be paid as a lump sum or installments throughout the year. We ask that fees are finalised by the end of October.

MACS (Melbourne Archdiocese catholic Schools) have recently introduced a School Fees Concession Program policy to assist families who may be experiencing financial hardship. A copy of this policy and application is attached for eligible families.
