Week 8 Update

The end of another term is quickly approaching. It has been another huge term full of high-quality teaching and learning that thankfully has not been impacted by COVID. Even know COVID is not playing a large part in illness across the school we are still being impacted by a variety of illness that has seen a large number of relief teachers throughout the school.

At all times we endeavour to utilise the same TRTs to ensure continuity of learning and consistency.  We are very lucky to have such an exceptional group of TRTs we are able to utilise.

Student Wellbeing Boost

The Federal Government has announced a once-off Student Wellbeing Boost for 2023, providing every school across Australia with additional funding to support students’ mental health and well-being.

The aim of the student well-being boost is to support schools to address the impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Funds can be used to engage additional mental health professionals, host activities targeted at improving students’ well-being, or put towards other proven well-being and mental health initiatives.

We have a strong focus on wellbeing in our school with a range of programs and support structures in place for our young people. Additional funding will enable us to further expand this focus and broaden the services currently available.

Further actions by the Department for Education to strengthen well-being supports include:

  • A new well-being programs directory, providing schools with a list of evidence-informed mental health and well-being programs available from external providers.
  • A series of student forums and a summit, where young people from across the state will have the opportunity to share their insights into the issue of violence in schools.
  • The 2024 Parents in Education (PIE) parent engagement project grant funding round will focus on violence prevention and strengthening family and school partnerships.
  • New funding for restorative practices training programs and support in schools.
  • New online learning modules for schools, including preventing violence, responding to violent incidents, and restorative interventions and conferencing.

A supportive school community is essential for our students to grow, thrive and learn. If you have any questions or concerns that you would like to discuss, please contact our school at dl.0911.info@schools.sa.edu.au  or phone 8443 5544.
