New K-2 Syllabus

Dear Parents and Carers,

Since 2020 the NSW Curriculum Reform has been shaping a new K-2 Syllabus. This year, our K-2 teachers have been implementing the new English and Mathematics Syllabus. The new curriculum gives students more time to focus on key concepts so they can acquire a deeper understanding of essential knowledge and skills. It ensures students develop strong foundations for learning as they prepare for life and work in a complex and fast-changing world.

The new syllabus emphasise key concepts, identifies essential knowledge and skills and includes new outcomes to clearly show that it is essential. To reflect the outcomes of the new English and Mathematics syllabuses, the language of the Semester 1 reports will change. LOP News

When completing Learning walks and talks with students from Kindergarten to Stage 3, they have been able to confidently articulate what they are learning in Science.

During Science lessons, students are encouraged to question and seek solutions through creative problem-solving, collaboration, investigation and critical thinking.

This has been evident in the Kindergarten classroom, where the students are learning to identify materials that objects are made of. They have been designing a house and a list of tools and equipment that will be used, and we look forward to seeing their creations next week!

In Stage 1, students have been learning how to design and develop a product capable of providing a push or pull action to play a game. They have successfully designed their arcade games and are excited to commence production next week. Stay tuned for pictures of their finished products, which we will be sharing soon!

In Stage 2, students are learning to understand the effects of erosion caused by natural sources and human activities. Additionally, they have also been designing a barrier using a range of materials to prevent erosion.

Finally, our Stage 3 students have been learning all about how Earth compares to other planets in the solar system. To assist them in their learning, they have created a classroom display!

Well done to all our students. We look forward to seeing your scientific designs in action next week!
