Around the College

Meet your 2023 Victorian Global Learning Awards winner!

The community at Doncaster Secondary College congratulates international student and College co-captain, Berry Eain, for winning the Year 11 Student Leadership Award at the 2023 Victorian Global Learning Awards held on the 8th June. Each year in Victoria, one international student from year 11 and one from year 12 will receive this award which recognises outstanding leadership. Berry is a great contributor to both our school and the wider community.

The Victorian Global Learning Awards are a celebration and recognition of what brings us together, the strength of Victoria’s international relationships and the esteem with which we are held internationally for global learning and engagement. But most importantly it is a celebration of our students, teachers, parents, principals and homestay families, and the contribution they make to our schools and community.

Big congratulations to Berry!

Student Agents for Change

On Friday 16th June a large number of DSC students across years 7-11 participated in a community-focused leadership and philanthropy workshop called 'Agents for Change', hosted by Kids in Philanthropy (KiP). The program empowers and educates young people to assist others in need. Partnering with local charities, Stride Education and Father Bob's Foundation, our students packed Breakfast on the Go & Morning Tea bags, and wrote Cards of Hope to our community members who are displaced and/or in need.

By participating in this workshop, our students gained an increased sense of empathy for others, heightened wellbeing by helping others, learned skills on how to be a changemaker within their community and fostered their desire to help others.

DSC Short Story Competition 2023

The annual DSC Short Story Competition has begun! The competition is open to all students across the College. You can upload your completed story to the Learning Task in your English subject on Compass by Friday, 28th July, or you can send it directly to Ms Skennar.
