WPS Community Children’s Garden
Our exciting news this week is that six cubic meters of FoGo compost has been donated to the Woodend Children’s Community Garden by Macedon Ranges Shire Council for compost awareness week. Unfortunately, the garden area was too wet for the tip truck to get in, so the compost was dropped on the nature strip and SUPER dad Luke brought his big orange digger to school on Saturday and moved all the compost to a spot next to the garden. HUGE THANKS to LUKE and MRSC!!!
We already started using the new compost this week when we planted some asparagus crowns, although the garden club kids preferred to call them “asparagus monsters”, “asparagus sea creatures”, “asparagus aliens” or “asparagus octopus”.
FREE FOOD – if you’re in need of some healthy greens and something to do over the winter holidays, pop down to the Children’s Community Garden and pick yourself some fresh kale, spinach and rocket (labelled in garden beds). The food is free, but in exchange, it’d be wonderful if you could do a little weeding while you’re there.
