SCHOOL LEADERSHIP MESSAGE

PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

While we still have a week to go before the end of Term Two, today we officially complete Semester One. Over the last few weeks students have been finalising assessments for all subjects as well as completing end of Semester exams. I couldn’t be more proud of how hard our staff and students have worked during first semester, and particularly over the last couple of weeks.

We’ve achieved a lot this year so far. It was on the first day of this year that we first had access to our wonderful new Middle School Learning Hub, and much of our outdoors space was still fenced off while the landscaping was completed. I appreciate the challenges that this restricted movement had on our community, and the resilience shown by staff and students was amazing. Gradually our outdoors space started to open up, and we even had access to our new gym from the start of this term. We had always said that this building program would provide some short-term pain for a long-term gain. Now that we are settled in to our new spaces with wonderful landscaping and flow between our buildings, I’m sure we would all agree that it was worth it.

The final remaining elements to be completed is the landscaping where A-wing used to stand. There will be a new entrance built for our General Office area, facing east towards town. Immediately in front of this will be a garden and our flag poles will be relocated to this place. The remainder of the area will be landscaped with paths leading to our General Office. When completed this will provide a very welcoming entrance to our school from the path and road to town.

The Korumburra Round Table is a group of representatives from local businesses and organisations who are committed advocates for Korumburra. KSC is very proud to be a member of this group and last night we hosted their June meeting at our school. This meeting started with a tour of our new buildings. Spending time with this group each month continues to remind me of how much we have to be proud of in our local area. Last night the group also reiterated their pride in us as their local school. It’s wonderful for our staff, students and parents to know that our whole community is right behind us, with everyone working together towards the common goal of achieving outstanding outcomes for our students.
