Immigration Museum

5/6 visit to Immigration Museum
Immigration Museum- by Jarrod
On Thursday, last week, we went to the Immigration Museum. We opened suitcases and looked at the contents. They were filled with belongings of people that had immigrated to Australia. We found out who they were, why they moved to Australia and learnt their stories.
Some of the reasons for coming to Australia were violence, the Gold Rush, wars, human rights, money/jobs and family.
After that, we got a passport booklet to fill in while we explored the museum. My highlights were the train and the 'Leaving Home' video.
The Immigration Museum- by Chantelle
On the 14th of June, both 5/6 classes went to the Immigration Museum in the city by train. First, we unpacked suitcases and looked at the immigrant's belongings. We found out who they belonged to and why they moved to Australia. Some people moved because of violence, the Gold Rush, money, human rights and for family.
Then we explored the museum. We also watched videos about the immigrants. The highlight was opening the suitcase and finding out more about the owners.
