Principal's Report
I am extremely grateful and incredibly proud to be appointed the substantive Principal at Monty PS and once again be a part of your child’s learning journey. Thank you to all of you for such a delightfully, warm welcome (back)! I am privileged to have the opportunity to lead such a wonderful team at MPS, as we seek to nurture resilient, compassionate individuals who are intellectually curious and motivated to reach their potential.

We are thrilled that both Josh and Elisa have joined our staff team. Please make sure you give them a hearty Monty welcome!
Our major event this term will be an exciting musical production – “Saving Home”, written by our very own Sarah Kechayas. I have been informed that we will be kept very busy rehearsing, preparing costumes and building props. Good luck to those students auditioning for main roles. I am sure we will be able to see and feel the excitement emanating from the children as they learn more about this terrific whole school event, over the coming weeks.
The Compass Portal is now open for 3 Way Conference bookings which will be held on Tuesday 31st July, from 12:30-7:00pm. Our students will have the opportunity to share their portfolio with you during this time and teachers will also be able to update you on your child’s learning progress. Please head to the Compass site and make your booking.
You will receive a class newsletter by the start of next week which will inform you of all class happenings and highlights this term. You can also use this newsletter to check important dates and specialist days.
Christine Turner
We were saddened to hear of Christine Turner's passing last month. Christine was a much loved teacher, colleague and friend who taught at Montmorency Primary School for several years, beginning in 2010. Christine fought a brave battle against breast cancer. Many staff members and some families attended her funeral held during the school holidays. Christine will be remembered as a funny, vibrant, kind person, always with a big smile who cared deeply for her students. Our thoughts continue to be with her family at this time.
Parent Opinion Survey
The Parent Opinion Survey seeks parent opinion on measures of school climate, student engagement and effective teaching practice known to influence student engagement and student outcomes. Each year, a randomly selected group of parents are invited to complete an online survey which is used to generate a report for the school. These reports are extremely valuable for the leadership team and staff at our school as we use this information in strategic planning for the school. Should you be selected to complete this survey, you will receive an email within the next week with login details and a timeframe to complete the survey.
2019 Enrolments
We are looking at another great year of strong enrolments in Foundation in 2019, with numbers exceeding 60 students already. This is a testimony to the great work of our teachers and students at MPS and our reputation for excellence in developing the whole child. Should you still need to hand in enrolment forms, please contact the office at your earliest convenience to support our planning for 2019.
Synthetic Turf
The synthetic turf has been a beautiful new addition to our school grounds providing an extra play space for children at playtime and during PE and PMP. This new Buildings and Grounds project was made possible thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Parents and Friends Committee and our school community getting involved in fundraising events. We would like to extend special thanks to Michael Smith who not only managed this project over the holidays, but also arranged for an arborist to carry out maintenance on some of our trees following a recent tree audit.
Parenting Support
We have recently added a new page to our school website aimed at supporting families and students at home. We will regularly add new resources and articles that you may find useful. The first document we would like to share is the Numeracy and Literacy Tips which is a document that will support your child’s learning at home. Click on the link below to check it out.

This term promises so much and we are all looking forward to the rich learning and high standards that are generated in the wonderful environment here at MPS.
