Congratulations
Congratulations to Alex Twartz who finished 5th out of over 100 competitors in the recent Cross Country Secondary Schools Sports South Australia competition (SSSSA). The top 20 runners get to compete in a secondary race to make the South Australian team. Alex will take part this weekend. Good luck legend!
Ashlyn Hewitt (Year Seven) recently competed in Under 13 Girls South Australian Junior Soccer
Association (SAJSA) State Championships on 9, 10 & 11 June 2018 at West Beach Sports Centre. Ashlyn played for the Adelaide Hills Team, whom she had been training with on a weekly basis since February this year.
Girls from all over the Hills teams including Strathalbyn represented the team. Ashlyn, who plays for Stirling Districts as her club side, was the only representative from that team. The girls played 5 games over three days. During the tournament, there were some very competitive games against Riverland, Noarlunga and Port Pirie. Adelaide Hills also had a very convincing win against Whyalla on their way through.
It was a great experience for Ashlyn where she has made some great new friends playing a game she loves whilst being in an environment where teamwork, competitiveness and leadership were required. With girls coming from all over the Hills, the coach did a great job bringing the team together resulting in Adelaide Hill Under 13 girls being crowned the State Champions. They will take on other teams in August at Mount Gambier in the SAJSA Country Championships.
Please join us in congratulating Ashlyn in her achievement and help her celebrate this sporting outcome.
We also Congratulate Ashlyn and Libby Hewitt for making the SAPSASA Soccer district team.
Pedal Prix
13 students, 2 recumbent bikes and a whole lot of nerves and energy.
With all the training and meetings out of the way it was finally time to put into action what we had learnt. Mrs Ashley took everyone for a walk around the Victoria Park race track so new riders could get a glimpse on what they were about to embark on. With the site set up and a final meeting it was time to grid up and begin racing.
There was a bit of carnage (to be expected in this sport) with a few roll overs but thankfully no major damage to the bike and more importantly no damage to the riders involved.
Thank you helpers and parents who helped out on the day including set up and pack up.
A special Thank You to Therese Atkinson in organising and cooking food on the day for everyone. Thank you Clare Ashley for the amazing support you provided as Assistant Team Manager and for working tirelessly in the pitt. Thank you also to Clint Giggins in all his preparation leading up to and on the day as mechanic to make sure things ran smoothly.
Huge Thank You to our sponsors:
