Citi New Recruits Job Ready Program
A 5 day employment program is available to people aged 17 - 25 and looking for an apprenticeship or traineeship in the emerging industries of information technology, business, conservation and horticulture and warehousing.
Participants will get a taste of the emerging industry they are interested in and experience activities relating to interview techniques and the skills required for the 21st century workplace. There will also be industry guest speakers - such as employers and current trainees, mock interviews and an industry tour to one of Australia's biggest corporations.
Dates: March 13, 15, 18, 19, 21 & 22 , followed by three days of work placement with one of our employment partners
Location: Kangan Institute, Richmond (few minutes walk from train station)

Withdrawal Deadline for VET in School Courses
Please note that this is the final week to withdraw from your VET in Schools course. If your child is not liking their program please encourage them to speak with their Learning Advisor or Careers Coordinator Immediately. Any students who withdraw after Monday 4th February will incur the FULL COSTS of the program.
Inside Monash Seminar Series 2019
Get the inside story of what it’s really like to study at Monash. You’ll hear from a current student, a past student and an academic. It’s the best 90 minutes you could spend researching your course. Bring along your parents too! The Inside Monash Seminar Series commences in late March and continues until August. These seminars provide VCE students with an insight into the courses and career options within discipline areas. The seminars are held in various locations across the Caulfield, Clayton, Peninsula, and City campuses, and seminars with the same title have the same program. All seminars commence at 6.30pm. UCAT & Undergraduate Pathways into Medicine – Melbourne

Deakin Explore is an excellent resource that allows students to kick-start their course and career exploration. Students can start with courses that lead to a career or start with careers to find courses that lead to it. Students can filter courses and careers by what matters to them; each course and carer lists others that are similar thus allowing students to broaden their options, and students can save their favourite courses and careers to access later, and even share them by email, Facebook and even Twitter.

Australian STEM Video Game Challenge
The Australian STEM Video Game Challenge provides Australian students with a real-world opportunity to acquire, harness and apply new skills and knowledge in STEM-related fields and disciplines; combining them with creativity and technology to produce interactive, stimulating and meaningful responses to the goal of developing a playable video game.

The Australian STEM Video Game Challenge is completely free to enter. This year’s competition will run from Tuesday 19 Feb – Weds 7 August 2019 (Inclusive of registration, game build and entry submission.)
Students can enter in teams of 1- 4 members. All members of a team must be registered by their Mentor to participate and be eligible for a prize.
All registrants must be Australian citizens and have consent from a parent or guardian.
Each team is required to have a mentor – a nominated adult (18+) that will agree to act as a contact point between the Australian STEM Video Game Challenge and the team, and who can help to keep the team on-track while developing their game! There is no limit to how many teams a mentor can support.

NIDA Work Experience | Applications Close
Are you interested in a career in the performing arts?
NIDA offers courses in a wide variety of professions that are involved in the theatre, film and TV.
Our work experience program offers interested year 10 and 11 students the chance to spend a week with us at NIDA to observe and, where possible, participate in classes.
We have 3 periods in which we accept work experience students
- mid-February
- mid-June (non- acting career program only), and
- October
VCAL student profile - Ebony Scott
Ebony is currently a Yr 12 VCAL student. Her pathway to date includes completing an SBAT in Educational Support through VFA / Utrain in Narre Warren in Year 10. As part of the course she was also employed to work at the Marnebek School, St Agatha's Primary School and an aged care position in Cranbourne.
In Yr 11, Ebony transferred from VCE to VCAL and began a course in Community Services. She also undertook a work placement with Blairlogie Living and Learning. As part of her course she also undertook work with soup vans and serving food for the underprivileged in Narre Warren.
This year she is completing an SBAT with VFA / UTrain in Allied Health. She is employed Blairlogie Living and Learning.
Ebony hopes to undertake further study next year by completing a Certificate III in Disability and then obtain employment in this area.
Ebony finds fulfilment in her placement in helping others and seeing her clients appreciate her help. Seeing client progression with her assistance also brings enjoyment to the role.
